LRFD for Shallow Foundations on Soil and Rock

This webinar includes discussion on the types of shallow foundations, terminology, pressure distributions from a geotechnical and structural perspective, identification of limit states (sliding, limiting eccentricity, bearing resistance and settlement), interpretation and application of resistance factors, development and use of bearing resistance charts that permits consideration of several limit states (settlement, limiting eccentricity, and bearing resistance) in one convenient format. Footings on both soil and rock will be addressed.

The webinar assumes that the participant has a basic working knowledge of the various methods to estimate bearing resistance and settlements of shallow foundations on soil and rock. Furthermore, the webinar assumes that the participant has a good working knowledge of the fundamentals of LRFD. A separate webinar on the fundamentals of LRFD is available.
